We know habits are hard to break, even when we want to do better. That’s why our focus is on creating certified compostable products that fit naturally into everyday life. When better choices are simple and practical, more people make them, and each choice becomes part of something bigger. Small shifts, like choosing a compostable bag for food waste, help turn intention into lasting behaviour.
For over 30 years, we have been developing products that make better waste habits easier. These principles continue to guide who we are and what we work towards every day: helping people improve how organic waste is collected and keep valuable resources in use.
Our values
How we work
Biobag is part of the Novamont Group, a global leader in biobased materials and biochemical innovation. Novamont develops and produces Mater-Bi®, the material used to make our compostable bags and films. Their research and innovation strengthen our ability to develop practical solutions that support the Bioeconomy.
Our European production takes place on the island of Hiiumaa, close to many of the markets we serve. This helps us limit transport distances and stay responsive to customer needs. Our factory operates using 100% renewable energy, supported by solar panels, continuous improvements and careful waste management. Production waste is sorted and recycled, and we invest each year in machinery and processes to minimise material loss.
Compostability you can trust
All our bags, sacks, liners and films are certified by independent organisations. Depending on the product, they are certified for home composting, industrial composting or biodegradation in soil.
That means they have been tested to break down under the conditions shown on the product so you can trust that compostable really means compostable.
