Each month, we will highlight community heroes that are making a difference in their communities and working to make their local environments cleaner and healthier.
This month, we are taking a look at Duluth Compost in MN!

Duluth Compost is a locally owned and operated independent hauler of food scraps and other compostable materials based in Duluth, MN. Biobag Associate spoke to Nathan Bronk with Duluth Compost about the organization. Their interview is transcribed below.
What led you to start your composting operation?
Growing up I was taught to reduce waste and be mindful of my impact, and those lessons have stuck with me. When I saw a way to fill a gap to help the Duluth community and the environment it was a perfect fit!

Who do you serve and how can people get in touch with you if they want to start composting?
Duluth Compost serves Duluth, Minnesota and the easiest way to get started is to visit www.duluthcompost.com
How much organic material do you typically take in on a weekly basis?
So far this year our biggest pickup day was 500 pounds. It's exciting to see this number and our impact grow!
Feel free to add any additional information about your operation as you see fit.
Composting reduces the amount of trash you produce and can allow you to reduce your needs for other waste removal services. Saving the planet and yourself.
