Compost Crew is a composting service that collects food scraps each week for thousands of customers throughout the greater Washington area with their convenient curbside service. Biobag Associate spoke to Dan Israel with Compost Crew about the organization. Their interview is transcribed below.
What led you to start your composting operation?
Compost Crew is a locally-owned food scrap recycling business that offers clean and convenient composting services to thousands of businesses, organizations and residential customers throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Compost Crew envisions a world where food is not wasted, but instead reused and recycled to rejuvenate our natural resources, enabling Earth to support all lives that rely on it. CompostCrew, was founded with the objective of rescuing unwanted food scraps from the landfill, helping to retain valuable nutrients by converting the food scraps into a rich soil amendment – compost.
